A Shopify store can get more Google reviews by sending every customer a WhatsApp message after delivery with one button that opens its Google Maps review page. A health and beauty store in the UAE did that with Cartsaver on 2 October 2026 and got about 60 new Google reviews in the first month, more than in the 8 months before combined, while its Google rating held at 4.7. That is roughly 10 times its previous pace of about 6 Google reviews a month.
Cartsaver is a Built for Shopify app by Xtnd that confirms cash on delivery (COD) orders on WhatsApp or SMS before you ship, then uses the same WhatsApp conversation for order updates, abandoned cart recovery, one-tap cross-sells, reviews and campaigns, through the official WhatsApp Business API. This case study is for Shopify merchants with a physical shop, showroom or Google Business Profile who want more Google reviews without asking customers one by one.
Where do these numbers come from?
The Google figures come from the store’s public Google Maps listing, read on 4 November 2026. The switch date and plan history come from the Cartsaver app. We don’t name the store or show anything that could identify it, and we round the review counts.
- Before: the Google reviews dated roughly 1 to 9 months before 4 November, about 45 reviews.
- After: the Google reviews from 2 October (the day the store switched) to 4 November, about 60 reviews.
- Attribution, not proof: Google doesn’t tell a business which link a reviewer came from, so we can’t prove every new review came from the WhatsApp request. Google also shows review dates only as “2 weeks ago” or “3 months ago”, so the windows are approximate. What we can say is that the jump starts right after the store switched.
The challenge: good reviews, in the wrong place
The store sells health and beauty products online and from a physical shop. On the Scale plan it already sent Cartsaver’s WhatsApp review request after every fulfilled order, and customers rated their orders inside WhatsApp. Those reviews went to the Reviews Center, where the store could publish them on its Shopify pages.
But for a shop that people also visit in person, the reviews that matter most are on Google: they show up when someone searches the brand or looks for a shop nearby on Google Maps. The store’s Google profile was gaining only about 6 reviews a month.
What changed: the review button now opens Google Maps
On 2 October 2026 the store moved to the Ultra plan and turned on Google reviews as the review destination in Cartsaver’s Order Follow-Up card. From then on, the same WhatsApp message that used to collect a rating inside WhatsApp carries one button that opens the store’s Google Maps review page, where the customer writes the review on Google.
- Who gets it: every customer whose order is fulfilled and not cancelled. Cartsaver doesn’t ask for a star rating first, so happy and unhappy customers get the same button. That matters: Google’s rules don’t allow asking only satisfied customers for reviews.
- When: after the delay the store picks, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month or 3 months after the order, so customers have tried the product first.
- Where: in the same WhatsApp chat as the order confirmation and order updates, so the request comes from a business the customer already talks to.
- What Cartsaver measures: the clicks on the Google button, shown on the Order Follow-Up card.
Results after one month
| Before (about 8 months) | After (2 October to 4 November 2026) | |
| Where the review button pointed | Reviews Center (rating inside WhatsApp) | Google Maps review page |
| New Google reviews | About 45 | About 60 |
| Google reviews a month | About 6 | About 60 |
| Google rating | 4.7 | 4.7 |
- About 10 times more Google reviews a month. More than half of all the store’s Google reviews arrived in the first month after the switch.
- The rating held at 4.7. The new reviews include some 4, 3 and 2 star ratings, which is what an honest, unfiltered request looks like, and the average didn’t move.
- Reviews in the customers’ own words, in Arabic and English, often naming the product they bought and the delivery speed.
Why does a WhatsApp request get more Google reviews?
Most customers never think to leave a Google review, and an email asking for one is easy to miss. A WhatsApp message arrives in an app they open many times a day, from the same chat that confirmed their order, and needs one tap to reach the review page. The request also arrives after they have used the product, when they have something to say.
Which stores is the Google reviews option right for?
- Google reviews: stores with a physical shop, showroom or pickup point, and brands that people search on Google before they buy. Google Business Profiles are generally for businesses that meet customers in person or serve a local area.
- Reviews in WhatsApp (the default): online-only stores that want reviews and photos on their own product pages. Customers rate inside WhatsApp without opening a link, and you choose which reviews to publish.
The Order Follow-Up card uses one destination at a time, so pick the one that brings you more new customers.
What can you expect on your own store?
This is one store, in one country, over one month, not a promise. The number of Google reviews you get depends on how many orders you fulfil, how fast you deliver, and how happy your customers are: a WhatsApp request makes leaving a review easier, it doesn’t make customers like the product more. We will update this page with the store’s numbers after a longer period.
How to set it up
- Install Cartsaver and connect WhatsApp: see the installation and setup guide.
- Turn on the Order Follow-Up card and choose when it is sent (2 weeks is a good default if delivery takes 3 to 5 days).
- On Ultra or Elite, choose Collect Google reviews and paste your Google review link: open your business on Google Maps, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Watch the Google clicks on the card, and your review count on Google.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get more Google reviews for my Shopify store?
Ask every customer after delivery, in a channel they read, with one tap to the review page. With Cartsaver, the Order Follow-Up message on WhatsApp carries a button that opens your Google Maps review page. The store in this case study went from about 6 to about 60 Google reviews a month.
Which Cartsaver plan includes Google reviews?
The Google reviews destination is on the Ultra ($159.99/month) and Elite ($349.99/month) plans. WhatsApp review requests with reviews collected in the Reviews Center are on every plan, including Free. See Cartsaver pricing.
Does every customer get the Google review link, or only happy ones?
Every customer with a fulfilled, non-cancelled order gets the same button. Cartsaver doesn’t ask for a rating first or filter by score, which keeps the request within Google’s rules against asking only satisfied customers for reviews.
Can I offer a discount for a Google review?
No. Google doesn’t allow rewards for reviews. Keep any discount you offer separate from the review request, and don’t present it as payment for a review.
Does Cartsaver post the review to Google for the customer?
No. The button opens your Google Maps review page and the customer writes and posts the review on Google. Cartsaver counts how many customers tapped through.
Is this a real Cartsaver customer?
Yes. It is a Shopify store in the UAE on the Ultra plan. We don’t name it, and the Google numbers are rounded from its public Google Maps listing. For more results, see how 4 Shopify brands in Egypt use Cartsaver.
