These Cartsaver case studies show what four Shopify brands in Egypt got from WhatsApp order confirmation, abandoned cart recovery, cross-sell and reviews, measured on their real orders. Together they checked about 90,000 cash on delivery orders on WhatsApp, flagged about EGP 29 million of orders that were never confirmed before anything shipped, and recovered more than 7,300 abandoned checkouts worth about EGP 13.7 million. The brands are anonymous: a premium accessories and gifts brand, a women’s fashion brand, a lingerie brand, and a food and natural products brand.

Cartsaver is a Built for Shopify app by Xtnd that confirms cash on delivery (COD) orders on WhatsApp or SMS before you ship, then uses the same WhatsApp conversation for order updates, abandoned cart recovery, one-tap cross-sells, reviews and campaigns, through the official WhatsApp Business API. This page is for Shopify merchants, especially COD stores in Egypt and the wider Middle East, who want to see real numbers before they install, and to know how to read them.

Where do these numbers come from?

Every figure comes from the Cartsaver app database: real Shopify orders, test orders excluded, from the day each store installed Cartsaver to 20 October 2026. All four stores sell in Egypt, so amounts are order values in Egyptian pounds (EGP), rounded. We don’t name the brands or show anything that could identify them; each one is described only by what it sells.

Three terms are used the same way in every section:

  • Confirmed: the customer confirmed the order on WhatsApp (or with a verification code) within the store’s wait time.
  • Not confirmed: the customer did not confirm within the wait time. Cartsaver’s Pending Order Action then marked the order high risk in Shopify, or cancelled it, depending on the store’s setting, so the team could hold it, call the customer or drop it before paying for a courier. Not every unconfirmed order is fake: some customers simply miss the message. These orders were flagged, not proven fraudulent.
  • Recovered: an abandoned checkout that Cartsaver sent a WhatsApp reminder for, and that became a Shopify order within 7 days of the last reminder. That is attribution, not proof: some of those shoppers might have come back on their own.

Case 1: a premium accessories and gifts brand

The challenge. Premium accessories and gifts are high-value orders, and almost all of this brand’s orders are cash on delivery. One refused parcel means a courier fee and an expensive piece out of stock for days.

What it uses. WhatsApp order confirmation, abandoned cart recovery and post-purchase cross-sell, since July 2026.

  • About 11,900 orders, nearly 100% cash on delivery.
  • 85% confirmed by the customer on WhatsApp; 15% not confirmed, about EGP 5.3 million of order value flagged before shipping.
  • 945 of 5,114 abandoned checkouts recovered (18%), worth about EGP 2.9 million.
  • 96 cross-sell add-ons accepted in WhatsApp, worth about EGP 163,000.

For a high-ticket store, recovered carts are worth a lot each: the brand’s recovered checkouts average about EGP 3,000.

Case 2: a women’s fashion brand

The challenge. High order volume, all cash on delivery, and fashion buyers who order on impulse. At this scale, even a small share of orders that never get confirmed adds up to a lot of wasted courier trips.

What it uses. WhatsApp order confirmation, abandoned cart recovery, reviews collected on WhatsApp and cross-sell, since May 2026.

  • About 38,700 orders, 100% cash on delivery.
  • 69% confirmed; 30% not confirmed, about EGP 14.7 million of order value flagged before shipping.
  • 2,589 of 14,923 abandoned checkouts recovered (17%), worth about EGP 3.6 million.
  • 3,396 customer reviews collected after delivery.
  • 80 cross-sell add-ons, worth about EGP 32,000.

This store has the highest unconfirmed share of the four. That is exactly where confirmation pays: nearly a third of orders were held for a check before a courier was booked.

Case 3: a lingerie brand

The challenge. A personal category where shoppers often hesitate at checkout, and 98% of orders are cash on delivery.

What it uses. WhatsApp order confirmation, abandoned cart recovery, cross-sell and reviews, since December 2025, the longest-running of the four.

  • About 20,950 orders, 98% cash on delivery.
  • 80% confirmed; 18% not confirmed, about EGP 6.1 million of order value flagged before shipping.
  • 656 of 2,748 abandoned checkouts recovered (24%), the highest recovery rate of the four, worth about EGP 1.4 million.
  • 214 cross-sell add-ons, worth about EGP 151,000, the most of the four.
  • 655 customer reviews collected.

A private WhatsApp chat suits this category: the reminder and the add-on offer arrive one to one, not in a public feed.

Case 4: a food and natural products brand

The challenge. Everyday products that customers buy again, sold 100% on cash on delivery, where trust and social proof drive the next order.

What it uses. WhatsApp order confirmation, abandoned cart recovery, reviews and cross-sell, since May 2026.

  • About 18,500 orders, 100% cash on delivery.
  • 86% confirmed, the highest of the four; 10% not confirmed, about EGP 3.1 million of order value flagged before shipping.
  • 3,167 of 15,277 abandoned checkouts recovered (21%), worth about EGP 5.9 million, the largest recovered value of the four.
  • 8,464 customer reviews collected, the most of the four.
  • 168 cross-sell add-ons, worth about EGP 31,000.

For this brand, cart recovery brought in more order value than any other feature, and the review requests turned thousands of deliveries into reviews it can show new shoppers.

Real Shopify orders, test orders excluded, from each install date to 20 October 2026. Confirmed and not confirmed don’t always add to 100%: the rest were still waiting or ended another way.

What can you expect on your own store?

Your numbers will differ. Use these as a range, not a promise:

  • Confirmation rates ran from 69% to 86%. The unconfirmed share depends on your traffic, your category and how fast your customers check WhatsApp. A higher unconfirmed share means more orders to check, not that your customers are fake.
  • Cart recovery ran from 17% to 24% of abandoned checkouts. That counts checkouts where the shopper left a phone number and Cartsaver sent a reminder, and the order came within 7 days. We can’t tell how many would have come back anyway.
  • Cross-sell is a small extra, not the main event. Across the four stores, customers accepted 558 add-ons worth about EGP 377,000. It suits stores with a clear add-on product.
  • Reviews scale with deliveries. Stores that switched review requests on collected hundreds to thousands of reviews.
  • Your settings matter. The Pending Order Action decides whether an unconfirmed order is marked high risk or cancelled, and after how long. The default is high risk, so the team can call before shipping.

These are four stores in one country, all selling on cash on delivery. They are not a random sample of Cartsaver merchants, and the periods differ (from about 3.5 to about 10.5 months).

How to get the same setup

  1. Install Cartsaver from the Shopify App Store and connect WhatsApp: see the installation and setup guide.
  2. Turn on one-tap WhatsApp order confirmation and set your Pending Order Action. For extra layers, read fake COD order protection.
  3. Switch on abandoned cart recovery on WhatsApp.
  4. Add a cross-sell offer in the confirmation message.
  5. Turn on reviews and surveys after delivery.
  6. Check your own numbers on the dashboard and in the Logs: how to use Cartsaver’s logs.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real Cartsaver customers?

Yes. The figures come from the Cartsaver app database for four live Shopify stores in Egypt, with test orders excluded, from each store’s install date to 20 October 2026. The brands are kept anonymous.

Does “not confirmed” mean the order was fake?

No. It means the customer did not confirm on WhatsApp within the store’s wait time. Cartsaver then marked the order high risk in Shopify or cancelled it, depending on the store’s Pending Order Action. Some are fake or impulse orders; others are real customers who missed the message, which is why marking them high risk and calling before shipping is a common choice.

How does Cartsaver count a recovered cart?

A checkout counts as recovered when Cartsaver sent the shopper a WhatsApp reminder and the same cart became a Shopify order within 7 days of the last reminder. The recovered value is that order’s total.

Will I get the same results?

Not necessarily. Across these four stores, 69% to 86% of orders were confirmed and 17% to 24% of abandoned checkouts were recovered. Your results depend on your category, traffic, prices and settings.

Does Cartsaver work outside Egypt?

Yes. These four stores are in Egypt, but Cartsaver works for Shopify stores in any country you allow, with messages in English or Arabic. Stores in the Gulf, Pakistan, India and elsewhere use the same flow.

Which plan do these features need?

Order confirmation, cart recovery, cross-sell and reviews are available on every plan, including Free (10 recovered carts and 10 cross-sells). Paid plans raise the monthly WhatsApp allowance. See Cartsaver pricing.
